Notepads using my watercolors.

Shutterfly has many layouts you can use to create notepads. I inserted photos of my watercolors to their template to create a custom notepad. 

It's a 5"x7" notepad with nice paper and was beautifully printed.

Then I trimmed my art off of some of the papers and made them into bookmarks. Love these!

I used one of my watercolors to print thank you cards using Shutterfly. It was very easy and cost effective and it's nice to have my own art printed on cards.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers and more Flowers

I've been drawing lots of flowers on little paper circles with my new favorite Higgins India Ink marker along with ultra fine point and fine point sharpies. I always have paper and sharpies with me so I can draw when I have even a small amount of time. It's a good way to practice and keep creating.

Painting Flowers

I love that Higgins India Ink marker. Added color with watercolor to my drawing. Here is my finished painting with a small friend.

Drawing with Higgins Black Magic

I used my new Higgins Black Magic Marker to draw lines and shapes. 

I added lines onto a painting.

I drew layered flowers

 and filled some in with paint.

The ink is dark and black and flows smoothly from the brush on the tip of the marker. 

Really fun to use. 

Higgins Black Magic

Thank you to my brother Phil for this wonderful pen he gave me for Christmas. It’s a brush pen filled with India ink and makes the most beautiful black marks. I can’t wait to experiment with it.

Springtime Beauty

Circular Flowers

I like to paint lots of different ways. Sometimes I paint loose with flowing water and see where it takes me and sometimes I paint very tight and controlled. 

Here's how I worked on a very controlled painting of circular flowers. First I drew overlapping circles in pencil using a circle template then I drew various flower shapes with a micron pen.

I painted the flowers first and then the background.

Hello 2017

Where have I been! The fall got away from me with teaching and life and so not much art being done by me. I miss it and so of course I'm determined to do a painting a day in 2017. I'm already a day behind but here's my first one of the year and I'm happier already!

Started in a journal with watercolor...

and used these cool markers on top. They have a wonderful tip that makes a beautiful brush-like line.  (Thanks Phil) Plus if you get bored you can put them together like legos :)
