Flowers with Clay

Watercolor flowers from my sketchbook. Holding Model Magic clay flower created on a coaster - it was a nice sturdy circle that was perfect to hold the clay plus it was white so I could color it with chalk and sharpies.

House Portraits

Cheryl's house transformed. My friend Cheryl has taken a small ranch house and transformed it into a lovely 2 story home with a wrap around porch. These 2 paintings are portraits of the original house and the first re-model.

This is the original house and the beginning of my painting below.

This is the first re-model and the beginning of my painting below.

Colorful Bears in a Flower Garden

I have to laugh when I look at the beautiful oil paintings that my mom created and then look at these silly bears that I created - what can I say - I gotta be meeee!

In Honor of my Mom

My mom was a very talented artist - her work spanned many different kinds of media but her first love was oil painting. Here are 2 of her beautiful oil paintings to honor her on Mother's Day. Love you Mom.

Spring Green

It's almost spring. Time to start thinking about the garden.

My husband collected egg cartons and started seeds in a sunny spot in the dining room.

Green shoots popping up..

...with the promise of summer delights.

Glass Clay

I went to a workshop to learn how to use glass clay. We got a plain white or black tile and small packages of various colors of glass clay. The glass clay felt like wet sand and was not at all like regular clay so it took some getting used to. After it was applied to the tile, we squirted hair spray on the clay to adhere it to the tile.

Here are samples of student work loaded in the kiln ready to be fired.

My tile after firing. The color was amazing after firing compared to the how dull the clay was before firing.

Here is my second piece using a black tile.

A fun medium to learn and exciting to see the finished product after being fired in the kiln.
