Model Magic Clay Landscape

I've been teaching my second graders how to use Model Magic clay and this is what the extra looks like at the end of a unit. A big mush mess of colored clay. The colors are VERY bright right out of the package which is perfect for second graders.

I hate to waste the clay so I used the left overs to mix a more subtle color palette.

Then I used the new colors to create a landscape. This is the front.

This is the side.

This is the top.

And this is the back.
I love the way the subtle colors are so different from their original bright beginnings.

Moon

My challenge in 2016 is to paint/create more since I always feel too busy so art comes last. I found a site called Illustration Friday where they post a word on Friday and artists create work inspired by the word all week posting them on the Illustration Friday site. Last week the word was Soar. This week it's Moon. My challenge to myself is to make art each week to post on the site. Of course I'm posting 2 hours before the deadline. I discovered that if I didn't play Words with Friends obsessively or check Facebook continually, I actually do have time to create. Hmmm - maybe I have time to clean the basement too...... nah.
