Blue Jay

Here's how I start my paintings. 

I begin with a detailed pencil sketch and then start to fill in with watercolor. 

I add layers of color and work in the details. 

More layers of color on the bird and the beginning of the background.

When I started this painting, a pair of blue jays were singing in the trees behind my house. 

A lovely summer sound.

Bacon!

I went to a bacon themed party and brought these items:

BLT Appetizer

cherry tomatoes filled with bacon, lettuce and mayo with a basil leaf garnish

Bacon Brownies

chewy, chocolaty brownies with crispy bacon mixed in and sprinkled on top

Bacon Sugar Cookies

no bacon at all - just regular sugar cookie dough colored with food coloring, layered, sliced and drizzled with a powdered sugar glaze

Red White and Blue

I swirled red, white and blue Model Magic clay together just enough to hold but not so much to blend. 

Here I mixed blue and white Model Magic together to make a blue tint then rolled out coils and spirals to create a little vase.

Pink Shoe Inspiration

Pink Shoes

I bought a pair of cute pink shoes that started out plain pink with a sparkly band. I wore them a lot but made the mistake of wearing them to watch my son play baseball. Uh oh - rain - my cute pink shoes soaked and discolored by grass and dirt.

Hmmm. Pink sharpie circles, black sharpie dots and pink watercolor.

Good as new!
